Monday Manicure - Maybelline Candy Apple

Hi everyone!

I was going to make the Monday Manicure a weekly fixture but a couple of days after I took the pictures of this manicure, I had an incident with a door and ended up breaking four of the nails on my left hand. It was absolutely heart breaking! I've only had long nails recently, having stopped biting my nails at the end of November, so having four of them break, and some of them are so short they look ridiculous again, was an incredibly upsetting experience. I know they are only nails, but as an ex-biter, they are precious too me.

Anyway, I thought I would still post this post so this week I was wearing Maybelline's Colour Show Nail Lacquer in 15 Candy Apple.

Review - MUA Blusher in Shade 4

MUA is such an amazing brand in my opinion. They deliver fantastic products at really cheap prices. Before I started to read blogs I tended to steer clear of this make as I thought they would be really bad quality but I was wrong! I know the brand itself has had some trouble with customer service but I never order make-up online if I can get it in store so I have not experienced this.

Today I have a blusher from MUA to review for you.

February Beauty Haul

I know I said that posts should be more regular now, but I have had a busy few days with Uni and then I went home for the weekend for Mothers Day but I am back now and hopefully things will be a bit more regular around here!

I have done quite a lot of shopping in the past month - it's quite eye opening doing a monthly haul post because you forget what you've already bought otherwise. This makes me realise I need to cut down a bit as I am fully reliant on my student loan and have no regular income. Ah well! On to what I bought!

Review of the Nails Inc Mayfair Hand Lotion

So everything should hopefully be back on track now! Sorry for the huge gap in updates, I explained in my last post but it's all sorted now :) Just as a little sneak peak, the next two posts will be hauls! One of them is the promised Primark haul, the other is another beauty haul of everything I bought in the past month (a ridiculous amount).

On to the review, which is a fairly quick one! You may remember me mentioning in my last haul post about the absolute bargain I found in Poundland - the Nails Inc hand cream!

Review of the MUA Professional Pro-Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit

I have another MUA product to review for you here! I am really loving this brand at the moment, they are perfect for students who have a little loan that needs to go a long way.

I remember reading about the HD Brows kit a long time ago and it was really popular over summer, especially when it was included in several beauty boxes. I've never really been fussed about my brows - I used to let them do what they wanted as I am a wimp and hated causing myself pain by plucking them. I was fine getting someone else to wax them but it has taken me years to get used to plucking them. But then comes another problem - when you accidently pluck the wrong hair and have random bald spots in your brows! So, I invested in a brow kit.

Review of two Natural Collection Lipsticks

My aim for 2013 is to get in to more lip products. I have plenty of lip balms - about 4 on average in my handbag at a time - but other than freebies, I have never gone out and brought anything. I think it's because I don't like my teeth - they aren't hideous, but they aren't pearly white and I feel like any lip colour I wear will draw attention to that. But, I brought some teeth whiteners, which seem to be working, and thought I would buy some lip sticks!

On the left is the Moisture Shine Lipstick in Berry Sorbet. On the right is the Sheer Natural Lip Colour in Sand Castle.

Review of the MUA Bronzer in Shade 3

If you read my post on my previous foray into bronzers (17's Instant Glow Bronzing Powder in Light), you would know that it left me sorely disappointed. After seeing Oh So Flawless's post on Bronzers I asked for her advice and she led me to MUA. Although she did recommend the mosaic bronzer, I went for the normal one instead as I mainly wanted it for contouring.

This is a really nice light bronze and is the perfect colour for adding a healthy glow to my face, and for contouring as well. It is really blendable and you can build it up if you want a more harsh line for contouring. It lasts a long time as well! I haven't used it on a night out so I don't know how it will last under that, but it does last all day when I am at Uni.

Review of some LUSH products

Hi guys, I thought I would review the products that I bought recently from LUSH. You may have seen them in my latest haul post, but if not here are the products I am going to review for you today.

Review of Superdrug's Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser

I was really excited when I heard that Superdrug had brought our their own version of the incredibly popular hot cloth cleanser. It was a lot more affordable than the infamous Liz Earle cleanser and retails normally at £5.99 but has £1 off at the moment! So I went out and bought it despite the fact that it was for Normal to Dry skin. I do have sensitive skin but I haven't reacted to the Vitamin E range before and I have tried a couple of their products so I thought I would give it a go.

Review of MaxFactor Clump Defy Mascara by False Lash Effect in Black

Hi guys, if you read my previous posts you will know that I hoarded mascaras a lot during the past 5/6 years. I used to work in Superdrug and I was the one who tried and tested the mascaras. After I left, I stuck to one (Bourjois' Liner Effect Waterproof Mascara) and I loved the effect this had on my lashes. But I got bored, and went back in to searching for different formulas and brushes. I still kept going back to my trusted Bourjois though.

Then I heard about the Cover Girl Clump Crusher and how amazing it was meant to be. My lashes do clump quite easily so I really wanted this but, I obviously live in the UK so couldn't get hold of it. I went to Boots the other day, just to pick up some essentials, and I walked past the new MaxFactor Clump Defy mascara and I remembered reading somewhere that MaxFactor is Cover Girl. I don't know if this is true or not but I definitely do not regret buying this mascara!

Beauty Haul #2: Superdrug, Boots, Lush and Poundland

So my student loan came in a week or so ago and I had a list of items that I wanted to buy. I went a little crazy shopping this week and have two haul posts for you (the next one will be dedicated purely to Primark). This post will deal with Superdrug, Boots, Lush & Poundland! I will probably do reviews on the beauty products after I have used them before but here is the basic outline of what I purchased:

First up is the biggest part of my haul, Superdrug!

As you can see there are some essentials in here, along with some highly recommended beauty products. I got 10% off all of these prices with my NUS Extra card which was a nice little extra!

Review of 17 Instant Glow Bronzing Powder in Light Bronze

Hi guys, if you read my previous post, you will know about my younger self having an apparent lack of appreciation for adding colour to my skin by not using blusher. I'm afraid it is even worse when it comes to bronzer. For years I have lived with the idea that bronzer is a bad bad thing and I will end up looking like the picture below if I tried to use it.

Review of No7 Blush Tint Powder in Soft Damson

Hi guys. I have a confession for you today - despite being fascinated by make-up for about 5/6 years now, I never really wore blusher. I was a mascara, eyeliner and foundation hoarder. Looking back, I really have no good reason to give you guys as to why I never wore blusher. It makes no sense. Anyway, I went on to buy a Maybelline Dream Mouse Blush in Dolly Pink a couple of years ago and I hated it - waaaaay too much glitter in there for a day-to-day look. Then came a Miss Sporty Blush, which was a lovely colour, again had a little glitter in it, but it wasn't very pigmented so I decided, enough is enough, my face needs some colour!

This is where the No7 Natural Blush Tint Powder in Soft Damson came in.

Review of Ciate's Mini Mani Month

Hi guys! My first review for you here :) and I apologise because it is the Ciate Mini Mani Month and it is the mid-end of January. I wasn't going to post this originally, but I didn't have a blog in December and Ciate did tweet that they had brought back the Calendar so I thought I would put it up anyway! Plus, it doesn't necessarily have to be used as a count down to Christmas  it could be a countdown to a birthday or other special event!

So, first things first - this is awesome! I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who likes nail polish. If you have a friend or relative who loves nail polish, buy this for them, when it next becomes available and you have a present that will be well appreciated. There are colours for everyone and, whilst there are a couple of colours I wouldn't really use unless I was doing funky nail art, there are also colours I wouldn't have thought about getting but absolutely love!

I got this a part of my Christmas present last year (feels so weird saying that when it was only a month ago!) and it retailed at £38 at Selfridges. It was then reduced down to £19 in the sale, so if you managed to get one for that price you got a bargain, especially when you consider that they are now charging over £50 for them on eBay!

Beauty Haul #1: Boots and Superdrug

I went a little crazy this past month and spent a bit too much on beauty products (among other things) so I though I would show you guys what I bought!

First up is a lovely Barry M Lipgloss. I don't normally wear lip products (other than balms) but this was a nice glossy, natural looking gloss and I thought why not! The shade is 4-Matt Pink and it was £3.99 from Boots!

Welcome

Hi guys,

I just wanted to introduce myself! I go by the name of Dixie, but this is not my real name, just a nickname. I am 22 and a student in England. This blog will contain all of my beauty nonsense really, and some random lifestyle posts. The plan is to go through the mass of things I own, and obviously review them, but there will definitely be some hauls and purchases in between!

I started this blog after getting absolutely hooked on reading other peoples blogs over the summer. I used to work in Superdrug when I was in college, and the amount of make-up I have is ridiculous so I figured I might as well share my views. I felt that other blogs were really useful so I thought why not share mine? At least this way I can slightly justify the amount of money I spend on it :)

I look forward to speaking to everyone soon! If you have anything you want to ask, just comment below or tweet me! My details are in the sidebar :)

Also, feel free to leave a link to your blog!
